Stephen Jamison manumission documents

Scope and Contents

This collection contains manumission records signed by slaveholder Julia Treadway that granted Stephen Jamison freedom. There is an application allowing him to serve in the 4th Regiment of the United States Colored Infantry during the American Civil War that includes an Evidence of Title proving Treadway’s enslavement of Jamison, Treadway’s Claimant’s Certificate and Oath of Allegiance to the United States. In addition, there is a Deed of Manumission and Release of Service for Jamison.

Scope and Contents of the Records This collection is comprised of photographs of fire stations and personnel of the Atlanta Fire Department. Also included are photographs of notable fires in Atlanta during the 20th century. Most of the photographs are group portraits of fire companies taken between 1890 and 1928, and include images of fire stations number 1 through 20. Strickland family business ledger

This collection consists of one ledger book from the dry goods business owned by the Strickland family in Cumming, Georgia. The first part of the book lists who bought merchandise. The second part lists what the store owners bought from other merchants. This ledger also includes information regarding gold mine expenses in Forsyth County.

This collection consist of a report entitled “Suggested Scheme for the Camouflage of a Manufacturing Plant” by Daniel H. Boden, Preston S. Stevens, Willard N. Lamberson, and Clarence W. Baughman, in response to a problem submitted for Course in Civilian Camouflage at the Evening School of Applied Science, Georgia School of Technology. The report designed camouflage for a road machinery manufacturing plant located in the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains.

In the treatise, he argues why he believes Christ will return to save those who believe in Him and references scripture to support his argument. He also emphasizes that there will be clearly recognizable signs to mark Christ’s return at an unexpected time.
