Scope and Contents
This collection contains a draft photocopy of Bower's regional survey, "Fences in the Landscape of the Northeast Georgia Mountains" prepared while she worked as a preservation planner for the Georgia Mountains Area Planning and Development Commission (later Georgia Mountains Regional Commission). Bower's survey examines the history of fences in the southeastern states and the types of fences used in northeast Georgia.

Biographical / Historical
Sybil Hedy Argintar Bowers (1957- ) was born in Buncombe County, North Carolina, to Eli and Mrs. Argintar. She attended Emory University from 1975-1977 and in 1980 she earned her bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from University of Georgia. In 1986 she completed her Master of Historic Preservation degree at University of Georgia, School of Environmental Design. Bowers worked as a regional preservation planner for the Georgia Mountains Area Planning Commission (later Georgia Mountains Regional Commission) from 1983-1985. After 1986, Bowers worked as a preservation planning consultant for Southeastern Preservation Services in Asheville, North Carolina.
