Scope and Content

This collection contains letters, some original and some copies, written by Governor John M. Slaton. Most of the correspondence concerns the Leo Frank court case, Slaton's commutation of Frank's death sentence, and his subsequent failure to be reelected. There is also one letter written by Lucille Selig Frank, the wife of Leo Frank, to Slaton.

This collection contains Grace Hyatt’s memoirs which she composed in intervals between 1980 and 2002. It includes genealogical accounts of the Lorentzson family and several accounts of her life and that of her husband, Spurgeon. Most of these accounts are recollections of her teaching career in Brunswick, Collins, and Canton, as well as her courtship with Spurgeon.

These four witnessed the fire and assisted patients both at the scene and in the emergency room. Scope and Content The Hall County convict flyer is a single item offering a reward for two convicts who escaped from the Hall County Jail on the night of June 3, 1887. The escapees were G. V. Ayers, the “noted Harmony Grove burglar,” and Tillman Justice, who was accused of murder in Towns County, Georgia. The flyer contains physical descriptions of each man, noting that Ayers has a pistol wound in his left thigh, made at the time of his arrest by Marshal Tom Hanie.
