Hall County convict flyer
Scope and Content
The Hall County convict flyer is a single item offering a reward for two convicts who escaped from the Hall County Jail on the night of June 3, 1887. The escapees were G. V. Ayers, the “noted Harmony Grove burglar,” and Tillman Justice, who was accused of murder in Towns County, Georgia. The flyer contains physical descriptions of each man, noting that Ayers has a pistol wound in his left thigh, made at the time of his arrest by Marshal Tom Hanie. Ayers and Justice escaped by cutting their way through the wall. James F. Duckett, sheriff and jailer for Hall County, offered a $50 reward for the return of each man.
