This collection contains images of Camp Wheeler, a United States Army camp in Macon, Georgia, and there are also images of Marietta National Military Cemetery, officers in military uniforms, army trucks and tents, and photographs of a group of soldiers that were taken mostly during WWI. Also included are photographs of downtown Atlanta, Union Station, Tuxedo Tobacco Company, Henry Grady Monument on Marietta Street, Boy's High School, and Keely's Department Store.

Samuel R. Belk diary

Scope and Content

The collection contains Samuel R. Belk's diary, which contains a page of recordings for every day of 1926. One page includes a newspaper clipping which mentions Samuel Belk by name. Entries focus mostly on everyday family life and religious matters from his work as a pastor at Trinity Church in Atlanta, Georgia. There are also notes on the memoranda pages at the end of the diary consisting of names, addresses, and times of day.

Samuel Russell and Julia Colquitt Bridges papers

This collection contains genealogy records, letters, programs, and newspaper clippings about the Bridges family, primarily Samuel Russell, Jr. Included are the military papers of Samuel Russell Bridges from World War II. Of particular note is Mrs. Bridges' guest book which was signed by President Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924).

Samuel Spencer Civil War letters

This collection contains carbon transcriptions of fifty seven letters by Samuel Spencer to his father, Lambert Spencer, while he served in the Confederate Army in 1864-1865. He saw service in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia.

Samuel Venable Mason letters

This collection contains letters from Mason to his mother and describe his military activities and surroundings. Other correspondents include Elizabeth Venable Mason, and Ensign Richard Barksdale Harwell. The collection also contains a poem about the 361st Regiment.

Sarah B. Fay herbarium

Scope and Content

This collection consists of one bound herbarium of marine plants collected by Sarah B. Fay. The notebook includes several different types of seaweed such as kelp and algae. The specimens likely came from the coast of Massachusetts. Of special note, the herbarium contains species of seaweed such as: Delesseria sanguinea (Hudson) and Porphyra leucosticta (Thuret).

Sarah G. Towery botanical watercolors

SGM Carl L. Sharp papers

This collection contains one letter and envelope addressed to Sharp’s commanding officer, Captain Richard M. Barb, commending Sharp and his comrades for assisting the Atlanta Police Department with the investigation of the Jewish Temple bombing on October 12, 1958. It also contains a short biographical note on Sharp outlining his military career as well as correspondence between the AHC and Sharp's family.
