This series contains material that documents SAVS membership. The series contains acceptance and rejection letters; candidate information; application requests; member rosters; membership polls; and overall statistics on members. Applications include members who were accepted into the association and members who were rejected. Several applicants applied more than once. The series is organized chronologically, then alphabetically.

This series contains interviews conducted under the direction of Atlanta History Center (AHC). They were conducted by AHC staff, AHC volunteers, or community partners including the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association, the Marietta Golden K Kiwanis Club, and the Atlanta Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. The bulk of the interviews were conducted at AHC; some were conducted in veterans' homes or at partner events.
