Scope and Content This collection consists of a letter written by James W. Courtney to his sister from a "Camp near Atlanta Georgia." Courtney discusses the lack of correspondence between the two of them and hopes that missing letters will eventually arrive. He writes that he hopes he will soon be finished with this "unholey war" and expects to capture Atlanta, Georgia, and return home within three months or so. Jane Swann Travel Diary

Scope and Contents of the Records

The travel diary, a bound leather journal engraved “Jennie [sic] Swann, 1901,” documents Jane Swann’s summer travels through parts of the United Kingdom and Europe, June to August, 1901. Swann’s entries describe the various religious and cultural institutions she visited in cities and villages in Amsterdam, Brussels, England, France, and Scotland. Affixed and loose within the diary are commercially produced photographs and other printed material documenting her travels.
