Tracy Mathewson letters

This collection contains eleven letters from Tracy Mathewson to Sam Saltzman regarding various photos taken by Mathewson and other photographers. Mathewson sent photographs to Saltzman and described them in these letters. Mentioned are photos of Ty Cobb, Bobby Jones, the first Officers' Training Camp at Fort McPherson, German prisoners at Fort McPherson, and the 1917 graduating class of Georgia Tech. Mathewson also worked with Tracy O'Neal, an Atlanta photographer.

Transcription of John Barnett letter

This collection is a transcription of a letter written by John Barnett, a soldier in the Wisconsin 25th Infantry to "Brother Tom." The letter was written near Gainesville, Georgia. He describes movements across the Chattahoochee River to Kennesaw Mountain and on to Resaca. Date of transcription is unknown but definitely before 1956.

Transcription of Lewis H. Andrews Civil War diary

This collection contains a transcription of a diary written by Lewis H. Andrews of the Eighth Georgia Regiment, Longstreet's Corps. The diary entries chronicle a three week trip of a party of Confederate soldiers from Appomattox, Virginia to their homes in Georgia. This is a transcription of the diary which appeared in the Atlanta Journal May 21, 1904.

This collection contains transcriptions of letters from Lieutenant Josiah Blair Patterson of the Company E, 14th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, A. P. Hill's Light Division, Army of Northern Virginia. Most of the correspondence consists of letters he wrote to his family from Virginia and what is now West Virginia. The collection also includes an annotated outline of the 14th Regiment's organization and history, and the campaigns and battles in which it is known to have participated.
