This collection contains a transcription of a diary kept by William Montgomery during the Civil War during 1863-1864. There are also transcriptions of letters he wrote from 1861-1866, and in 1907.

Administrative/Biographical History

William Montgomery was born at Standing Peachtree, DeKalb County, Georgia. He served in the Palmetto Guards of the 2nd South Carolina Volunteers, Bonhams Brigade. After the war he lived in Marietta, Georgia.
