This collection contains a typed copy of the diary of William Decatur Howell, a Confederate soldier of Oxford, Mississippi who served in Atlanta during the Atlanta Campaign. There are ten letters written to and about John George McClatchey; a memorial poem written by Minerva McClatchey after the death of her son John who was a private in Company I, 7th Georgia Cavalry. He was wounded at the Battle of Trevillian Station, and died at a hospital in Gordonsville, Virginia.
