John Ashley Jones papers

Ephemeral items related to the Sons of Confederate Veterans (of which Jones was the national commander), the New York Life Insurance Company, and Central Presbyterian Church of Atlanta (where he served as a ruling elder). Of special interest are scripts and historical addresses from Atlanta’s Centennial Celebration in 1948 and an inscribed copy of Ivan Allen’s The Spirit of Atlanta (1948).

This collection primarily contains documents from John Cothran's military service during World War II and as a member of the Organized Army Reserve. John Craig Evans civil war letters

Most of the letters were written in Petersburg, Virginia and consist of questions about his children, family, and home life. John G. White, Jr. papers

This collection contains correspondence written between John G. White, Jr., his mother Eva White, and his future wife Marbelle Ware, while he was deployed during World War II. Of particular note are cards produced specifically to send to servicemen, two Georgia Power newsletters, and a censored letter from White to his mother, dated July 27, 1943. There are also examples of ration books, newspaper clippings regarding White's marriage, and a clipping autographed by Carl Conway.

The book served as an instructional item as well as a workbook. All the pages are handwritten, and it contains drawings at the beginning of each section. The book is handmade of burlap, lined with a newspaper dated 1811. Where the newspaper was printed is unknown.
