Scope and Content This collection contains articles, certificates, correspondence, deeds, a ledger, military records, and school assignments. The majority of the records consist of deeds dated 1832-1887 of properties purchased by John Marshall Berry in Rome, Georgia. Included are deeds for one half of a commercial lot bought by Charles H. Troutman and Battey family papers

Scope and Content The bulk of the Troutman and Battey family papers are legal documents (many from Floyd Country) generated by those families, including deeds of indenture (many signed by Dr. Robert Battey), wills, and an abstract of title to lands in Floyd County. The collection also contains correspondence, the majority of which was sent to Colonel Hiram Bainbridge Troutman, a book of Minstrel song, and documents pertaining to Atlanta society.
