This collection contains photogravures of locations in and around Atlanta during the early 20th century, including the Georgia State Capitol; Piedmont Hotel; Ansley Hotel; Winecoff Hotel; Second Baptist Church of Atlanta; Carnegie Library; First Baptist Church; and the First United Methodist Church.

Biographical / Historical
Albertype Company, founded in 1890 by brothers Adolph (1845-1938) and Herman Wittemann, was a publishing company based in Brooklyn, New York. Originally known as Wittemann Brothers, it operated from 1890 to 1952, producing over 25,000 prints. The Albertype Company published viewbooks (also known as souvenir albums or view albums) and postcards using the Albertype photographic process. Viewbooks are bound and contain commercially published photographs depicting a place, activity, or event. Albertype Company produced their own photographs and also reproduced photographic images by individual photographers or other companies.
