Judith B. Tankard visual arts material
This collection contains photographs, slides, and postcards that document Tankard's career in landscape history research, lecturing, and writing. Included in the collection are images of Chatham Manor in Fredericksburg, Virginia, owned by John Lee Pratt (1879-1975) and Lillian Thomas Pratt (1876-1947). Also a part of the collection are house and garden images documenting Tankard’s research and travels in North America and Europe. These images highlight the work of landscape architects such as Beatrix Farrand (1872-1959), Ellen Shipman (1869-1950) and landscape designer Gertrude Jekyll (1843-1932), and architect Edwin Luytens (1869-1944).

This series contains photographs and postcards of Chatham Manor in Fredericksburg, Virginia, owned by John Lee Pratt (1879-1975) and Lillian Thomas Pratt (1876-1947) with gardens designed by American female landscape designer, Ellen Shipman (1869-1950). Included in the series are images of the manor house, gardens and grounds as well as people; some are possibly Pratt family members and household employees. The series also contains a numbered inventory that Tankard created to accompany the photographs.
