Norwood family herbal remedies and recipes
Scope and Content
This collection contains four handwritten pages of cures, antidotes, and cooking recipes used and written by the Norwood family. Many herbs and plants are mentioned by name. Of special note is a letter addressed to "Essie" regarding the remedies and recipes, which also mentions "Cousin Ella" and "Nettie."

Administrative/Biographical History
The Norwood family lived in Perry, Houston County, Georgia, for several generations. Farm owner Samuel L. Norwood (1850-1930) married Annie W. Houser (1876-1942) in 1895. They had three children: Samuel (1898-1955), William Felton (1903-1969), and Kathrine (1897-1963). William Felton Norwood, a city clerk in Perry, married Myrl Norwood (1908-1982) and they had one son, William 'Felton' Norwood Jr. (1935- ). Dr. Felton Norwood married Mary Bush (1952- ) in 1983 and they reside in Atlanta, Georgia.
