Scope and Content

This series contains maps published by the city of Atlanta, the state of Georgia, and by private companies that depict representations of the city of Atlanta and its suburbs. Generally, the maps depict street names, place names, neighborhoods, city limits, railroads, and other common features. In rarer cases, maps illustrate settlement patterns according to race; infrastructure additions such as sewers, sidewalks, paved streets and water mains; trackless trolleys, bus lines, and rapid transit routes; zoning; house numbering; census tracts; land lots and district numbering; land use; population density; public housing locations; annexation patterns; topographical features and locations of proposed interstates.
