Inside are two letters to Miss Ruth Blair, the Executive Secretary of the Atlanta Historical Society, dated March 11, 1938 and March 18, 1938, both from Fitzhugh Knox, Sr. Also included is a short manuscript titled “My Reminiscences From 1883”. Grady; businesses, like the Merchants Bank of Atlanta, J. Regenstein and Company, J. M. High and Co., and W. H. Brotherton, a retailer; churches, including St. Philips Cathedral, the Hebrew Benevolent Congregation, and the German Lutheran Church; events, like the Piedmont Industrial Exposition in 1887 and the Atlanta riot of 1906; and various other items of Atlanta life, such as baseball, building projects and the High Museum School of Art; as well as some biographical information on Fitzhugh Knox, Sr. The second half of the manuscript is genealogical information. There is a chart tracing both his parents’ descent from Colonel William Fitzhugh (1651-1701), as well as various information on letters written by the Colonel held by the Virginia Historical Society, including a list of correspondents, an index of topics, and a detailed content list for the letters.
