Scope and Content This collection documents the political life of Charles Longstreet Weltner and the built landscape of Atlanta, Georgia, in the 1950s and 1960s. Scope and Contents of the Records This collection contains images of churches, schools, and businesses in towns near Atlanta, Georgia, including Alpharetta, Ben Hill, and Sandy Springs. Included are photographs of the business district in Alpharetta, the Baptist Tabernacle, and Milton High School. Images in Ben Hill include the business district, the First Baptist Church, and the Ben Hill Recreation Center. A photograph of the Hammond School in Sandy Springs is also included.
Scope and Contents This collection contains photographs and blueprints from the Atlanta Transit System, Inc. (ATS) in Atlanta, Georgia. Included are photographs and schematics of buses, streetcars, and trolleys used by ATS, as well as images of ATS staff. Of special note are photographs of Governor Lester Maddox (1915-2003) with William P. Maynard, president of ATS, signing a sales tax relief bill, which removed sales taxes on passenger fares.
