This collection contains an engraved color map from 1799 of the Southeastern United States by cartographer, globe-maker, geographer, and engineer J. B. (Jean Baptiste) Poirson (1760-1831). This map illustrates the travels of naturalist and explorer William Bartram (1739-1823) in 1773. Also highlighted are areas inhabited by Native Americans such as the Cherokee and Muscogee (Creek) Nations.
