This political flyer is from the first Georgia gubernatorial primary after the state ratified a new post-Reconstruction constitution in 1877. In it, "colored men interested in the welfare of their race" urge Black Georgians to vote for Alfred Colquitt (1824-1894) over Thomas Norwood (1830-1913) because "Governor Colquitt is the first Democratic Governor that has ever given the colored people their full rights in Georgia."
