Scope and Contents of the Records The collection is comprised of eleven interviews, transcript of each interview (edited and unedited), original audio recordings for each interview, and a CD access copy of each. Scope and Content The bulk of the collection is a series of letters from Lt. Francis Lawton Mobley to his wife, Rhoda Gaskins Mobley during his time of service in the Civil War. Lt. Mobley illustrates daily camp life for his wife and reports on his general health and well-being. In most letters he reports his current location and the various ailments afflicting the men in his regiment. The most common ailments mentioned were "Brain" fever, chills, measles, mumps, and diarrhea as well as battle field wounds. ...

Scope and Content This collection consists of personal letters from Ann (Mathews) Joor, the daughter of John Mathews, about the death of "Edward" and from William Joor about a troublesome slave. There are receipts from William Joor and Jonathan Cooper about the transfer of the slave from Savannah, Georgia, to Charleston, South Carolina. Also included are business letters between John Mathews and his cousin, Optimus Hughes, about the sale of James Island.

Scope and Content This collection contains the family photographs of the Kurtz and Fuller families as well as visual materials Kurtz created and collected during the course of his career. Family photographs pertain to Kurtz and Fuller families as well as a few images from Annie Pye Kurtz prior to her marriage to Wilbur Sr. Also included are images of Wilbur Sr. and friends during his time in Chicago, Illinois.
