James W. Courtney Civil War letter

Scope and Content This collection consists of a letter written by James W. Courtney to his sister from a "Camp near Atlanta Georgia." Courtney discusses the lack of correspondence between the two of them and hopes that missing letters will eventually arrive. John Dunlap civil war letter

Scope and Contents of the Records This collection contains a typed copy of a letter written by John Dunlap to his father William Dunlap during the Atlanta Campaign in the Civil War on July 30, 1864. John Henry Durbin papers

This collection contains copies and transcriptions of newspaper articles about Durbin and his brother-in-law, Benjamin Bainum, as well as a roster of their 83rd Indiana Infantry Regiment. John White Geary letters

These papers consist mainly of photocopies (and some transcriptions) of letters written by John W. Geary to his second wife, Mary Geary, while he served in the Union Army during the Civil War between 1861 and 1865. Some letters predate the war, and others are written by John's son, Edward R. Geary, and sent to his stepmother Mary. The collection also includes an index of correspondence and information on the corps that Geary led.

This collection contains a typed copy of the diary of William Decatur Howell, a Confederate soldier of Oxford, Mississippi who served in Atlanta during the Atlanta Campaign. The diary also contains a short biography of Howell. The manuscript was compiled by Howell's aunt, Maud Morrow Brown in 1931. The collection also contains a letter from author Margaret Mitchell to Ms. Brown regarding the manuscript.

McClatchey family papers

There are ten letters written to and about John George McClatchey; a memorial poem written by Minerva McClatchey after the death of her son John who was a private in Company I, 7th Georgia Cavalry.
