Scope and Content This collection consists of originals and photocopied cards, letters and newspaper clippings concerning major events in the Hill/Payne families. Included are several consolatory letters to Mrs. Laura N. Hill on the death of her husband, Mr. W. Rhode Hill, and to Mrs. J. Carroll Payne on the death of her mother, Mrs. Laura N. Hill. Photocopied newspaper clippings regarding the Payne-Smith and the Payne-Hopkins weddings are included in the collection.

Brown, of the "Brown Annex," which was located in District 22 (14th District) land lot 112, near the Exposition Cotton Mills. The sales journal lists the date of sale, a description of the land lot sold, the buyer's name, the amount paid by the buyer, and the expenses due in commission to Thomas L. Bishop.
