Administrative/Biographical History

The Garden Club of Griffin, Georgia, was founded in 1928 to "foster the knowledge and love of gardening and flower arranging among amateurs, to aid in the protection of native trees, and birds, and to encourage civic planting." The club is governed by elected officers such as president, vice president, and treasurer. The club is a charter member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. (GCG) and is active within the Redbud District of the GCG. The club is also a member of the Deep South Region of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Federated Garden Clubs of Griffin and Spalding County. The club has participated in numerous civic beautification projects such as planting and landscaping Griffin city parks, highways, medians, schools, cemeteries, hospitals, and public libraries. In 2008 the club published A Guide to Gardening in Middle Georgia to celebrate its 80th anniversary.
