Scope and Content
This collection contains Confederate Soldiers Home administrative materials, a few personal papers, and a scrapbook. The scrapbook contains materials pertaining to the Confederate Soldiers Home and the Georgia State Patrol. Personal papers include a copy of the Civil War record of Mrs. Pruitt's grandfather, Green B. Bentley.

Administrative/Biographical History
Lorena Pace Pruitt was born in Smyrna, Georgia on June 30, 1896. She served as superintendent of the Confederate Soldiers Home, 1937-1940, and was mayor of Smyrna, 1946-1949. She was the first woman to be elected mayor in Georgia and was involved in a number of civic, social, and professional activities. Additional biographical information about Lorena Pace Pruitt has not been determined.
