Administrative/Biographical History

Evelin (Evelyn) Huffman Webb (1924-2006) was born in 1924 in Lebanon, Kentucky, and married Dr. Willis L. Webb in 1946. They lived in Fort Valley, Georgia and had five children. Webb was a founding member and three time president of the Town and Country Garden Club of Fort Valley. The club is a member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. (GCG) and Webb held many leadership positions within GCG. In the 1960s Webb attended The Garden Club of Georgia's flower show school, sponsored by the National Council of State Garden Clubs. She later became a National Garden Club Master Flower Show judge, active throughout Georgia and presented programs teaching floral arranging. She encouraged her daughter in law, Marsha P. Webb, to attend flower show school; she later became a National Garden Club Master Flower Show judge. Webb co-owned a florist shop named House of Flowers, which provided flower arrangements to the residents of Fort Valley. She was involved in many community organizations such as the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at the Peach County Hospital, the American Heart Association for Peach County, Georgia, and floral committees for the First Baptist Church and the Saint Andrews Episcopal Church.
