Administrative/Biographical History
The Dogwood District was created in 1959 as one of six geographical districts formed that year from The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. Due to the large size of the Dogwood District, a portion was reassigned to the newly formed seventh district, Redbud District, in 1961. According to their website, "These seven districts carry out the state program on a local level throughout Georgia." The district is governed by elected officers such as director, secretary, treasurer, and numerous committees. The district holds an annual meeting and hosts The Garden Club of Georgia conventions and flower shows. The district also raises money for various service programs and participates in community outreach projects through member clubs. Dogwood Dialogue is a quarterly newsletter published by the district.
