Administrative/Biographical History

The Mount Paran Woods Garden Club was formed in 1955 with the intent to, "stimulate among amateurs the knowledge and love of gardening and the protection of native trees, plants and birds, to promote fellowship among our neighbors and good will in the Mt. Paran-Northside community, and to support civic planting projects the club deems appropriate." The Club maintains three Atlanta greenspaces, specifically garden triangles at Mt. Paran Road and Northside Drive, West Conway and Broadland Roads, and Cave and Mt. Paran Roads. These parks are owned by the City of Atlanta and overseen by Park Pride's "Adopt-A-Park" program. The Club also supports the Shepherd Center's Horticulture Therapy Program, the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and the Oakhurst Community Garden Project. The Club is also actively involved annually with the Southeastern Flower Show, the annual premier gardening and horticultural event in the Southeast United States that promotes conservation and awareness of the natural environment through education, horticultural excellence, and artistic expression.
