Biographical / Historical
In April 2020 the Atlanta History Center (AHC) initiated the Corona Collective as a digital repository for Atlantans to donate materials that documented the COVID-19 pandemic. Business owners, healthcare workers, educators, safety personnel, civic leaders, and others contributed photographs and stories that demonstrated social, political, and economic repercussions of the public health crisis. The collection also documents the Black Lives Matter movement. In addition, AHC partnered with StoryCorps to collect audio recordings as another story-telling option. AHC was closed to the public between March and June 2020; when the Kenan Research Center of the AHC was reopened to the public in July, staff began collecting physical material as well as digital.
