Laurel Horton's quilting and folk dance papers
Scope and Contents
This collection documents Laurel Horton’s research about quilting and textiles, particularly the Chattahoochee Country Dancers, later called the Chattahoochee Contra Dancers. In addition, it contains information documenting the quilting committees on which she served. Horton collected the bulk of this material researching the connection between quilting and dancing in Alaska, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. Papers include field notes, book chapters she authored, essays, emails, quilting patterns, and binders about "dance quilts." Of particular note are transcripts from a group interview that Horton conducted with the Chattahoochee Country Dancers about quilting and dance.
