Scope and Contents

This collection documents Wiley A. Cash’s finances, state records, legal contracts, and family correspondence. Financial records include household and business expenses, especially with Evens Implement Company, Wofford Oil Company, and C.P. Suber General Merchandise; legal records include documentation about a family dispute about estate inheritance and a land contract with neighbor George McIntosh. The collection also contains a genealogy of the Cash family and a 1928 Emory University pamphlet. Of particular note are letters exchanged between Cash and his wife during their courtship.

Biographical / Historical

Wiley Albert Cash (1877-1967) was born in Fulton County, Georgia, to John H. Cash (1837-1923) and Mary C. Eidson (1856-1933). He married Cora L. Brickell (1873-1961) in 1902, and they had two children, Francis K. Cash (1909-2003), and Wiley M. Cash (1908-1924). Cash owned a dairy farm in Fulton County and Cora worked as a dressmaker.
