Margaret Zattau (1905-1975), daughter of Charles Zattau (1884-1943) and Josephine Zattau (1884-1959). Margaret Zattau Roan graduated from Washington Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia, then from Wesleyan college in Macon, Georgia, in 1926, after which she studied at Juilliard School of Music in New York. She interned in music therapy at Eloise Hospital in Michigan and became a pioneer in music therapy for children, later serving as president of the Georgia Federation of Music Clubs. She was also a member of the Covington Suffragettes, a national officer of the League of Women Voters, a leader in Democratic women's groups, and served in the Woman Volunteer Services of DeKalb County during World War II. In 1926 Zattau married Augustus Morrow Roan (1898-1959), who was born to Charles T. Roan (1866-1911) and Issie M. Roan (1870-1963) in Jonesboro, Georgia. He graduated from South Georgia College, University of Georgia, and Atlanta Law School. In 1925 he passed the Georgia bar and later worked as a judge in DeKalb County, Georgia; in addition, he served as president of the Superior Court of DeKalb, on the board of governors of the Georgia Bar Association, and as president of the Georgia Association of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Augustus and Margaret had two children, Charles Thurston (1928-1988) and Margaret Roan (1938- ). Both graduated from Druid Hills High School in DeKalb County. Afterwards, Charles Roan attended Georgia Evening College, later Georgia State University, before enlisted in the United States Army as a private in 1946. In 1960 he married Tattie Mae (1928-1992) who was a graduate of Agnes Scott College and earned a master's degree in Library Science from Emory University. She served as President of Atlanta Information Service Inc. and taught computer science at Georgia University of Technology and Emory. Roan and Tattie Mae had two daughters, Ansley Josephine Roan (1965- ), who graduated from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and Caroline Tabitha Roan (1968- ), who graduated from Druid Hills High School and married Arjang Abbasi in 2003.
