Biographical / Historical
The Georgia Perennial Plant Association (GPPA), of Atlanta, Georgia, was founded in 1987 by horticulturalist and nursery owner, William "Bill" Funkhouser (1952- ), and other perennial gardening enthusiasts. GPPA is governed by a board of officers which includes a president, treasurer, and directors-at-large. The association is devoted to the education, promotion, and cultivation of perennial plants and gardening in the Southeast, and offers monthly meetings featuring speakers on a variety of topics. Other activities include annual plant sales, garden tours, volunteer opportunities, and an annual spring symposium and silent auction. The association has participated in the Southeastern Flower Show with award winning educational garden displays. To further encourage and support the growing of perennials, the association publishes a quarterly newsletter, Perennial Notes.
