Administrative/Biographical History
The Tullie Smith House, later known as the Smith Family Farm, was built around 1840 by Robert Hiram Smith. A typical plantation plain type house, by the 1960s it was surrounded by metropolitan Atlanta's highways and suburban office parks. Tullie Smith, Robert Hiram Smith's great-great-granddaughter was the last Smith to live in the house. Following her death, heirs of the Smith family decided to donate the house to the Atlanta Historical Society (later the Atlanta History Center) and the house was moved to the institution's Buckhead campus in 1969. The house was subsequently restored and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
