Administrative/Biographical History
St. Philip's Episcopal Church was organized in 1847. The first site of the church was on Washington Street facing the Georgia Railroad. In 1894, it became the Pro-Cathedral for the Atlanta Diocese. In 1933, St. Philip's moved to its present site on the corner of Andrews Drive and Peachtree Street in Buckhead. The present Cathedral building was begun in 1945 but not completed until 1962. In December 1944, a new guild was organized with, at first, the name of St. Anne's Guild. In the summer of 1949, the name was changed to St. Agnes Chapter. Additional historical information about St. Agnes Guild at the Cathedral of St. Philip has not been determined.
