The Strother family line in the United States originates with William Strother (1630-1702) who settled in what is now King George County, Virginia, near the town of Conway. He married Dorothy Savage (1631-1681) and together they had six sons: William (1652-1746), James, Jeremiah (1703-1741), Robert (1679-1735), Benjamin (1670-1752), and Joseph (1684-1763). This collection was primarily compiled by Arthur P. Strother, Sr. (1875-1945) and his son Arthur P. Strother, Jr. (1908-1994), although the collection was started by Henry Strother (1829-1908), the father of Arthur Strother, Sr. Henry Strother was the great-grandson of Jeremiah Strother.
