Administrative/Biographical History
Harry Nelson (1889-1956) was born in Racine, Wisconsin, to Andrew Nelson (1835-1935) and Christine Nelson (1862-1936), Danish immigrants. In 1917, Nelson was drafted to fight in World War I and sent to Camp Gordon in DeKalb County for training. He then joined the 307th Field Signal Battalion, Company A, where he reached the rank of sergeant. Nelson married Jane Dorst Nelson (1899-1941) in 1925. They had one daughter, Helen Nelson (1928-?).
