Ella Parker composition book
Scope and Content
This composition book contains assignments completed by Ella Parker as coursework at Wesleyan Female College. Included are short works of fiction, essays, and drawings. Of particular note are a series of essays on the life of Paul the Apostle, an essay on womanhood in Shakespeare, and several drawn maps of Paul's missionary journeys.

Administrative/Biographical History
Ella Diane Parker Leonard (1872-1950) was born in Prattsburg, Georgia, to Josiah Brink Parker (1844-1922) and Julia L. Mathews Parker (1847-1914). In 1890 she graduated from Wesleyan Female College, later called Wesleyan College. She lectured briefly at Brenau University before moving to Atlanta, Georgia, where she taught English at Murphy High School. Leonard was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1893 she married Robert Henry Leonard Sr. (1866-1898) and they had two sons, Julian Porter Leonard (1894-1925) and Robert Henry Leonard Jr. (1897-1918).
