Administrative/Biographical History
Mary Frances Long Shindelbower (1912-2000) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to James Melvin Long (1882-1955) and Ada E. Hale Long (1884-1971). She attended the Georgia State College for Women and after graduating became a teacher in Atlanta. She married Harry Elkin Shindelbower (1910-1995), a retail manager at General Motors, and they moved to Duluth, Georgia. Mary and Harry had two children: Miriam S. Machida (1945- ) and Roxana S. Evans.
