Administrative/Biographical History

James Hamilton Therrell (1907-1965) was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to Daniel Therrell (1868-1958) and Marie Therrell (1875-1958). In 1927, he graduated from Emory University and in 1930, Emory Law School. In 1931, he married Vinita Anderson (1908-2004) and they had three children: Vinita Therrell Leake (1942-1990), Marie Therrell Astin (1943-2013), and Alexander Anderson Therrell (1946-). Therrell was the director of the Atlanta Housing Authority from 1942 until 1952 and served as the Executive Assistant to the Attorney General prior to his death in 1958.
