Administrative/Biographical History

Paul R. Jones was born in Bessemer, Alabama. He graduated from high school in 1945 and attended Alabama State College in Montgomery, Alabama. He received a master's degree from Howard University in Washington D.C. After completing his education, Jones became involved with many political and civic organization which include director of the Peace Corps in Thailand in 1971; director for Minorities Committee to Re-Elect the President (President Richard M. Nixon) in 1972; director of the Southern Region of ACTION; consultant for the Institute of Community Studies in New York City; probation officer in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, California; and member of mediating group regarding racial disputes in many U.S. cities. Jones also ran for Fifth District Congressman (State of Georgia) in 1982, losing to Wyche Fowler. Jones was an art collector and owner of Paul Jones Enterprises, a house restoration firm.
