Administrative/Biographical History
William Kimbrough Jenkins (1890-1968) was born in Georgia to William Marshall Jenkins (1863-1943) and Sarah Leonard Kimbrough Jenkins (1870-1949). He attended Donald Fraser Preparatory School in Decatur and graduated from the Georgia School of Technology in 1912. That same year, he married Nancy Kathrine Boothe (1890-1976). They had three daughters, Kathrine Stembler (1913-1987), Sara Bagby (1917-1982), and Camilla Gerald Jenkins (1919-1921). In 1913, Jenkins partnered with Arthur Melville Lucas, Jr. (1881–1943) to promote and manage community theaters across Georgia. Jenkins and Lucas had many business entities, including Atlanta Enterprises, L & J Incorporated; Lucas and Jenkins Theaters, Inc.; Lucas-Jenkins Associates; and the Georgia Theater Company. In 1934, Lucas-Jenkins Associates took over management of the Fox Theatre. In addition to theater, Jenkins was involved in other business ventures, including the William K. Jenkins Realty Co.
