This collection contains two notebooks used by Maggie Grier, and later her daughter-in-law Ruth, for their work at Whittier Cotton Mills in Atlanta, Georgia. The notebooks contain draft patterns and notes used to create textiles.

Administrative/Biographical History
Margaret "Maggie" Hayes Grier (1895-1975) was born in South Carolina. She married Aaron Grady Grier (1895-1985) and they lived first in Bartow County, Georgia, then moved to the town of Whittier Mill Village along the Chattahoochee River in Fulton County. Both Margaret and Aaron worked at the cloth and yarn factory, she as a carder and he as a foreman. They had two sons; Herbert T. (1920-1996 ) and William Grady (1917-2000). William married Edna Ruth (1921-1971) who also worked at the Whittier Cotton Mills. William and Ruth had three children; Lamar, Gail, and Kay.
