This collection contains a pardon issued to Thomas W. Connally by President Andrew Johnson and certificates signed by Secretary of State William Seward in response to Mr. Connally's service in the Confederacy during the Civil War.

Administrative/Biographical History

Thomas Whipple Connally (1809-1884) was born in Bakerstown, Alabama, and married Temperance Peacock in 1836. The couple had fifteen children and lived in East Point near Atlanta, Georgia. Thomas Whipple Connally's son Dr. Elijah L. Connally married Mary Virginia Brown.
