Administrative/Biographical History

The Wayside Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was formed to "coordinate the interests of the members and bring them into closer relations of mutual helpfulness of association, conference, and correspondence; to promote the love of gardening among amateurs; to protect our native trees, wildflowers, and birds; and to encourage civic planting and civic beauty." The club was a member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. and was governed by elected officers such as president, vice president, and treasurer. The club's main civic project was the beautification and support of the Osgood Sanders Nursery (also known as Osgood Sanders Day Care Center). The club was a member of the Junior Flower Show Association and hosted and participated in numerous flower shows, winning many awards.
