Dr. Amey Chappell Valentine card collection
Scope and Content
This collection of greeting cards was collected by Dr. Amey Chappell and do not appear to have a personal connection to her. The six Victorian die-cut paper Valentine cards have 3-D images that raise from the surface. The motifs of the cards include couples, flowers, cherubs, hearts, and puppies. One card has a date of 1866 handwritten on the back and the rest are undated. Four of the cards are inscribed to "Miss Adams," from various people. One card is inscribed to "Mother" and one is inscribed to "Meryl."

Administrative/Biographical History
Amey Chappell (5 November 1900- 24 March 1986) was born in Rhode Island and moved with her parents, Elwin E. and Mary M. Chappell, to Atlanta, Georgia, before she was ten years old. In the 1920s, she attended Oglethorpe University and Emory University. She became a doctor and practiced medicine in Atlanta. She was a trustee of Piedmont College in the 1950s. Emory University School of Medicine and the YWCA of Greater Atlanta set up scholarships in Dr. Chappell's name. Additional biographical information about Dr. Amey Chappell has not been determined.
