Administrative/Biographical History

The Indian Creek Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was organized in 1939 for the study and culture of plants and flowers, landscape gardening, social and cultural advancement, and concentrating upon civic pride in the community. The club is governed by elected officers such as president, vice-president, and treasurer and is a member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc., and the Fulton County Federation of Garden Clubs. The club's first civic project was the landscaping of the Southern Railway bridge entrance to Lenox Road. The club supported a number of organizations including the Cerebral Palsy Center of Atlanta, Inc., the Veterans Hospital, the Fulton County Home for Aged, and the Swan House at the Atlanta Historical Society (now known as the Atlanta History Center). The club has also participated in HANDS (Home and Neighborhood Development Sponsors) projects through the Fulton County Federation of Garden Clubs as well as various flower shows, winning many awards.
