Administrative/Biographical History
The Primrose Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia, was formed in 1928 for "the study and culture of flowers; to promote the love of gardening; to protect native trees, wild flowers and birds; to encourage civic planting and civic beauty." The club is organized under a constitution and by-laws and is governed by a board of officers elected annually. The club joined the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. in 1928 and participated in Atlanta's earliest flower shows such as Atlanta's First Annual Flower Show in 1934. The club has supported many Atlanta organizations such as the Atlanta Child's Home, Egelston Children's Hospital, Swan House at the Atlanta History Center, Oakland Cemetery, and Trees Atlanta. The club continues to particpate in local and regional flower shows.
