Administrative/Biographical History
The Club Estates Garden Club of Atlanta, Georgia was organized in 1939 for the "study and culture of flowers, landscape gardening, protection of trees, plants, and birds, and the encouragement of civic beautification." The club is a member of The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. as well as the Garden Center of Atlanta and the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. Since 1946, the club's long term civic project has been the beautification of the grounds of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home. This project included the installation of an illuminated fountain in 1976 and a meditation chapel in 2003. The club also supported the Garden Therapy program at the Milledgeville State Hospital and the Red Cross Flower Service for the Veterans Hospital of Atlanta. The club has worked to beautify the Brookhaven neighborhood with plantings in greenspaces and parks. The club has hosted and participated in many flower shows, winning numerous awards.
