Scope and Content
The bulk of this collection consists of personal correspondence to and from Gertrude Blair, dated 1943-1956 that describe the daily activities of her WAC service. They include her time at Archer Field in Brisbane, Australia; Hollandia, Dutch New Guinea, later renamed Jayapura (Indonesia); and Manilia, Philippines. Other documents include individual soldier records, newspaper clippings, memorabilia, military publications, event programs and a publication titled WACS & Wings, 1944-1945.

Administrative/Biographical History
Gertrude Blair (1902?- ) was born in Georgia and resided in St. Louis, Missouri most of her life. She served as a private and corporal in the Far East Air Force (FEAF), Women's Army Corps (WAC), and in the St. Louis Commercial Department during WWII. Additional biographical information about Gertrude Blair has been determined.
